MAC -Fife's Mobile Museum

MAC has been on the road since 1996, taking Fife Council's art and museum collections out to the people.
MAC visits schools and any kind of community venue or event and is a FREE SERVICE! We want MAC to be for everyone and making our exhibitions accessible and relevant is an important aim for the Interpretation Team. Interactive elements and hands-on activities are designed to appeal to all ages and abilities and contribute to a positive and enjoyable learning experience.
Previous exhibitions have covered diverse themes such as mining, The Victorians, recycling and the working spaces used by artists.

Current exhibition
Blackouts, Bombs & Bananas - Childhood in WW2
Experience through the eyes of a child what it was like in wartime Fife. Evacuation, rationing, schooltime, helping the war effort and of course the toys and games of the 1940s.
Listen to the wartime memories of Fifers, experience the sights and sounds of an air-raid and sing along to the popular songs of the day.
If you like a more 'hands on' experience, you can dress up as a wartime child with replica costume made by our volunteer group The Sewing Circle. Have a go at making a cotton reel tank or practise your skills with a 'whizzer'.
With a wide range of activities and artefacts and photographs from the library and museum collections on show, this is an exhibition, which is sure to appeal to all ages.
